Patryk Mlyniuk (b.1995) obtained a MSc in Optometry at the Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun (Poland) in 2019. In 2024, he completed his education at the Doctoral School of Medical and Health Sciences at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. As a result of the public defence of his doctoral dissertation entitled The application of optical coherence tomography for the morphometric and dynamic assessment of anterior segment structures in healthy, forme fruste and keratoconic eyes, he obtained the title of Doctor of Medical Sciences.

The main research interests concern issues in the field of optometry and ophthalmology, including contactology and aspects related to the anterior segment of the eye, primarily keratoconus. In cooperation with the Institute of Physics of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun (Poland), he participates in research on other applications of optical coherence tomography (OCT).

He is an author or co-author of scientific papers, conference presentations and scientific posters on BCLA Conference & Exhibition 2019 in Manchester, ARVO Annual Meeting 2019 in Vancouver, 36th Congress of the ESCRS in Vienna, 38th Congress of the ESCRS in Amsterdam, 25th ESCRS Winter Meeting Virtual and others. The author's most important publications include: Change in the geometry of positive- and negative-powered soft contact lenses during wear (PLoS ONE, 2020), Shape of the anterior surface of the cornea after extended wear of silicone hydrogel soft contact lenses (Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics, 2021), Changes in the geometry of modern daily disposable soft contact lenses during wear (Scientific Reports, 2021), Probing biomechanical properties of the cornea with air-puff-based techniques – an overview (Advanced Optical Technologies, 2021) and Air-puff induced corneal dynamics in normal, forme fruste and keratoconic eyes measured with OCT-based optical biometry (Optics and Lasers in Engineering, 2024).

In his everyday professional practice, apart from standard optometric procedures, he participates in the qualification of patients for cataract phacoemulsification, laser vision correction, and drug programs. He also fits soft and rigid contact lenses, especially in patients with keratoconus.
